Who said hybrids had to be four-door family cars?
Just as the rakish CR-Z proves that petrol-electric technology can be cool, the Honda SKYDECK is evidence that hybrid powertrains can be transferred into full-size MPVs, too.
Also debuting at Tokyo, the SKYDECK design study features Lamborghini-style scissor front doors and twin sliding rear ones – a surprisingly practical solution for getting passengers in and out of the six-seat interior.
Just like the FCX Clarity, the world’s first production fuel-cell car, the SKYDECK stores its vital components, such as the battery-stack, underneath and along its length. This layout frees up more cabin space – essential in a family car. It also gives the vehicle a much lower centre of gravity for more responsive handling and less body roll.
