Honda brought us the humanoid robot – and now the latest Japanese wonder is a futuristic motorised unicycle.
Using technology from the Asimo robot and the world’s first omni-directional driven wheel, the U3-X lets the rider perch on top while moving backwards, forwards, to the side and diagonally. Direction and speed – up to 4mph – are controlled by leaning your body.
Developed at Honda’s Technology Research Centre in Saitama, the U3-X will be demonstrated at the Tokyo Motor Show, from 24 October.
