AS Suzuki pins its future on small cars, Daihatsu is boxing clever at Tokyo with four concepts which aim
to blend practicality with distinctive looks.
Star of the show is the new DecaDeca, which means “roomy roomy” in Japanese. As well as an upright body with wide-opening doors, the car gets a highly versatile interior, featuring lightweight seats that can quickly be removed to extend the stowage areas.
Under the bonnet, there is an advanced 660cc engine offering a combination of performance and economy.
The DecaDeca will be joined by the new e:S – a 700kg city car aimed at the Ford Ka.
Meanwhile, the Tanto Exe targets young families with its roomy interior, and the 4WD Basket Concept has a truck-like deck.
