Take a look at Toyota's electric vision of the future. Called the FT-EV II, this cleverly designed, compact, electric concept is based on the iQ but will be specifically useful for short distance travel.
Perfect around busy cities, the electric iQ will have a range of more than 50 miles on a full charge, and a top speed of 62mph.
Packaging is very impressive too, measuring only 2730mm in length, 1680mm in width and 1490mm in height, the FT-EV II is 250mm shorter than the iQ, but this hasn't stopped Toyota from quoting there is still enough room to seat 4.
Toyota has also chosen to lose the traditional pedal operating system instead opting for a more futuristic approach, a joystick will be used for all the main tasks and will include the accelerator, brakes and steering, this means there will be more legroom in the four-seater too.
Additional features including an extra window below the level of the windscreen to for extra visibility as well as electric sliding doors on both sides to ensure easy access in tight spots.
Debuting at the Tokyo Motor Show later this month, Toyota hasn't confirmed a release date for an FT-EV II inspired vehicle, but sources have revealed to us that a production version could be ready as early as 2012.
