Leak reveals drop-top E-Class

The lid has been lifted on the Mercedes E-Class Convertible. These images of the CLK Cabrio replacement, leaked from the European Patent Office, give a glimpse at the drop-top, which completes the E-Class range.

As with its Audi A5 Cabriolet rival, it gets a traditional canvas roof instead of a heavier folding metal unit. And like the car it replaces, it’s aimed at style-conscious buyers, borrowing the sharp side creases and pronounced rear wheelarches from the latest E-Class coupé.

The engine line-up is also carried over from the tin-top, so buyers get a choice of four and six-cylinder diesel engines, as well as three petrol units topped by the E550 flagship. When the Convertible hits dealers in the spring, prices will start at around £35,000.
