What do you do when you need a name for your new sports car? Ask the wife! The wild Suzusho Supasse debuted at Tokyo, where company boss Tosho Suzuki revealed its badge was conceived by his partner. She declared the two-seater great at overtaking – hence the model designation 'Supasse'.

Power comes from a mid-mounted 2.3-litre turbo with 265bhp - a development of the engine used in the Mazda3 MPS - and the Supasse dispenses with ABS and EBD to tip the scales at only 850kg. As a result, it covers 0-60mph in six seconds, and hits 160mph flat-out.

It goes on sale in Japan next summer, priced 9million Yen (£60,000). But Suzuki said selling the gull-winged sports car globally was unlikely for the foreseeable future.
