Aspiring automotive designer Edwin Conan has peered into his crystal ball, and concocted his vision of a supercar for 2032. Called the Audi Avatar (no link to the forthcoming James Cameron film), the low-slung concept seats three passengers in a McLaren F1-style ‘V’ arrangement.
Beneath the four protruding fins are the wheels, each housing its own electric motor. That means not only will the Avatar be zero emissions, but it will benefit from Audi’s legendary Quattro all-wheel drive, too.
Power comes from high energy density supercharge-ion batteries, capable of delivering ranges comparable to modern diesels… and scorching performance to boot. According to Conan, 0-60mph it covered in just 2.9 seconds, while the top speed is a frightening 225mph.
What a visionary!
Damn, these automotive designers are good. Not only can they predict what type of energy storage will be used in 23 year's time (when the likes of Tesla, who actually make and sell electric cars right now, are hedging their bets on the type of battery power to be used in a few year's time), but they can also predict that roads will be so smooth that suspensions can be almost done away with. Maybe they could pass on their vision to my pesky local authority, who like to stick nice humpy things onto the road at at the least provoking. No doubt the windscreen of the car will be self-cleaning too, or maybe there just won't be any spray-wielding trucks on the roads in this visionary future. Maybe all that unnecessary moving of food around the place will be replaced by self-growing freeze-dried food, thus saving us the trouble of having any storage space in our visionary cars.
Damn, he's good.
