Expect a clash with the Qashqai and a tug-of-war with the Tiguan! Mitsubishi has entered the crossover battle, as it reveals this official sketch of the production version of its hatchback/SUV ‘cX’.

First unveiled at the Frankfurt Motor Show in 2007, it sticks to the design of the original study, boasting the same aggressive lights, fighter-jet style grille and rising waistline. Under the bonnet, power will come from a new range of clean diesel engines, including a 1.8-litre, with the flagship cX possibly featuring a turbocharged powerplant.

The cX will be officially unveiled at the Geneva Motor Show in March, with prices likely to start at around £17,000.
