Every parking warden in the UK could soon be kitted out with a RoboCop-style video recorder to snare unwary motorists.
Bolton Council in Lancashire last week became the first UK authority to equip each of its civil enforcement officers with a head-mounted camera, which can be used to combat appeals against unfair tickets.
That could pave the way for all wardens to don the gear within the next few years, according to the firm behind the equipment, NSL Services.
Its spokesman said: “We hope these cameras will become widely adopted, as they are a useful way of gaining quality evidence. They will mainly be used to reduce the threat of assault on our staff, but they’ll be able to prove cases of littering, too.”
