Greatwall i7
This week, just outside Hong Kong, the doors open to China’s Guangzhou Auto Show. And it’s already attracting lots of attention, as some of the largest car firms in the world are there.
Leading the way will be Toyota and Lexus. They plan to exhibit 45 concept and production vehicles in total – the most they’ve ever displayed at an expo. We reveal the highlights.
* MG6
After a concept version debuted at the Shanghai expo earlier this year, bosses will launch the production MG6 in Guangzhou. It’s due on sale here in 2010, and is the car fans of the brand have been waiting for since the ZS and ZT were axed when MG Rover folded in 2001.
* Lexus GX460
One of the highest-profile launches at this year’s event is the redesigned Lexus GX460 – the replacement for the American-market GX470 SUV. The new car will go on sale in China, and as well as a fresh look, it gets owner Toyota’s latest 310bhp 4.6-litre petrol V8.
* Greatwall i7
Chinese brand GWM is better known for its larger vehicles, but is getting ready to move into the small car market, too. Based on a 2006 concept, the i7 is one of the most original designs ever from the firm, and will come with 1.3 or 1.5-litre petrol power.

The Greatwall i7 isn't original at all, its a Yaris copy. Just check out the side profile from a pillar to the rear.
I agree - ill informed, to the average Joe, they'll believe what you write so it's important to get your facts straight! It was 2005 for MG Rover's demise and that is a mocked up Yaris, do you people know anything about cars or the car industry?
Arrowsmith and Focus_your_mind (above) both have a point!
Come on AE. Report it as it is! How can you report a cut & paste activity as 'one of the most original designs ever'?
The car makers are not being detered from this activity mainly down to costs but if you show them up as designers from the floor up and not from the wheel bearing up (I think the wheel was desined a few years ago!), then maybe we will start to see again the inovation we all love to see.
I'm afraid that reporting on aspects of MGR prior to it's demise all seemed to be geared up to helping it to it's ultimate destruction. I still run three, one being the V8 ZTT, hardly the world's worst car whilst it still holds the landspeed record, for an estate car (official two way at Utah), at 225 mph.
It's definitely a poorly disguised yaris.
The MG6 looks good I think quite muscular and imposing,
MG6
Well for a reputed reputable magazine, you dont know a lot... MG-Rover folded in 2005 and not 2001
