Bob Lutz, General Motor’s marketing chief has delivered the opening speech for this year’s Los Angeles Motor Show – drawing a line under recent events and outlining his vision for the company.
Stepping in to deliver the news in place of ousted chief Fritz Henderson joked; “I really feel I should apologise. I know there’s not much news coming out of the company he ‘I know many of you would like to know what is going on inside the company, but I am not going to tell you…”
“Obviously we are surprised and sadden. Fritz is a great executive, and guided GM through the most difficult period in its history.
He said; “It certainly has been an extraordinary year. We have a long way to go, but have a better chance of success than anyone could have imagined 12 months ago.”
“We have a large, and great corporation to run, and keep our focus on product, because that is what will save the company,”
“This has to be our focus.”
General Motors has enjoyed stronger sales in recent months – helping return the firm to profitability. It has six new cars on show at L.A including the new Cadillac CTS coupe.
