It's the Sportage that finally has the looks to go with its name! Kia has announced that the latest version of its SUV crossover will debut at the Geneva Motor Show, complete with a lower, wider stance and updated sporty styling.
The newcomer also bears a family resemblance to its bigger brother, the Kia Sorento, with the new trademark Kia-nose and a stylish coupé-like roof-line completing a muscular but compact profile.
The Korean maker announced that the new car will be longer than the model it replaces. That means that, not only will there be more space for passengers and storage, but the longer wheelbase allows for a more comfortable ride too.
Details about what will power the crossover are yet to be revealed, but the firm's 2.0-litre diesel and petrol engines are likely to feature alongside a range of smaller, more efficient units.

What a great looking SUV - and hopefully will prove efficient and a good car to drive too. I'm not a fan of the new Hyundai iX35's styling as it seems to take too many influences from all that 'flame-surfacing' BMW / Bangle nonsense.
I had considered a Nissan Qashqai but the 1.5Dci is too weedy and the 2.0 DCi too expensive to run - as well as being very expensive to service. The Skoda Yeti is very good, but the list price of the model I want is expensive, and the styling takes some getting used to.
But this model will be very tempting if the figures add up, on top of a 7 year warranty and Kia's already good, and improving, reputation for reliabilty.
I hope it will be released well before 1st sept 2010 and under £5k deposit for the top of the range model on motability . In addition my K1A UK number plate will look great on it
I have been waiting to use it since my S reg German built sportage went back. I hated the present one and got a Mitsubishi Outlander instead this time but I want to come back to KIA.
I think KIA will be in the top 3 of motor car manufactures’ in the next 5 years watch out Ford
