It looks like Volvo's curvaceous S60 is set to get a bigger brother. Our spies photographed this estate model, called the V60, during winter testing and, judging by these shots, the new load-carrier will be just as striking as its saloon sibling.
The family resemblance to the S60 can be clearly seen at the front end, while at the rear an extended roofline and upright boot lid give the V60 the space to match its style. Also visible from behind are XC60- style LED lights following the contours of the bodywork.
The engine line-up will be identical to that found in the S60 so buyers can choose from a 202bhp twin-turbo D5 diesel and a 3.0-litre T6 turbo petrol. There’s also a new 2.0-litre GTDi direct-injection petrol, plus a 2.0-litre five-cylinder diesel.
As with every Volvo, there will be an eco DRIVe variant that will emit just 115g/km of CO2.
The V60 will come as standard with Volvo's new Pedestrian Detection system – a groundbreaking safety feature that can sense people in the road in front of the car, and apply the brakes automatically if the driver doesn’t react.
The all-new V60 will be publicly unveiled at the 2010 Paris Motor Show in October and will be priced at around £22,000.
