Meet Lamborghini’s lightest, fastest Gallardo ever! This is the Superleggera – Italian for super-light – and it weighs 70kg less than the regular two-seater.
The standard 5.2-litre V10 has been uprated to give 10bhp more, at 562bhp. But unlike in the rear-driven 550-2 Valentino Balboni special, this is transmitted to all four tyres. Engineers have shed 40kg by replacing plastic with carbon in the underbody, bonnet and rear wing. Ultra-light 19-inch alloy wheels save 13kg more.
Two sizes of rear spoiler are available; cars with the smaller version (pictured) can reach a 202mph top speed. A new launch control system and quick-shifting e-gear box cuts the 0-62mph time to 3.4 seconds. Yet despite the model’s power, it’s 1.5 per cent more frugal, returning 20.9mpg.

I was hangin to see what the new Super Ledge was like for a quite a while. I had my hopes up...and...I'm slightly deflated. I wanted more BANG! - kinda like the SV Merci. This looks a bit tame. Bring on the bigger wing I say, and more bonnet vents and better decal (like on the mock-up version going around on the net). The wheel rims could have been more dramatic. Oh well...I'd still have one though.
