Saab has opened the order books for the new 9-5. Now that production of the car has restarted in Trollhatten, Sweden, the firm has confirmed prices will range from £26,495 to £37,995 when the first UK cars hit showrooms in the summer.
Three engines will be available from launch with a 160bhp 2.0-litre diesel joining 220bhp 2.0-litre and 300bhp 2.8-litre petrol engines. A more powerful 190bhp 2.0-litre diesel and 180bhp 1.6-litre petrol engine will join the range in time for the new '60' plates in September. All engines will be coupled to six-speed gearboxes and the base model diesel emits 139g/km of CO2.
There are two trim levels to choose from; Vector SE and Aero. Part leather seats, iPod integration, parking sensors, dual zone climate control and 17-inch alloy wheels are standard on the Vector SE, while the top-spec Aero model includes 19-inch alloys, different bumpers, electric leather sports seats and a sport chassis.
Eye-catching options include an aircraft-style head-up information display, DAB radio, and Saab’s XWD all-wheel-drive system with electronic LSD.
In Vector SE trim the 160bhp 2.0-litre diesel starts at £26,495 with the more powerful 190bhp 2.0-litre twin turbo diesel costing £28,495. The 180bhp 1.6-litre turbo petrol model starts at £26,695 with the 220bhp 2.0-litre turbo rising to £28,195.
The Aero model kicks off with the £31,495 2.0-litre diesel, with the 2.0-litre petrol costing £31,195. The top-of-the-range 2.8-litre petrol costs £37,995.
