That’s Zon hell of a claim! Insurance firm Aviva is set to fork out £300,000 in its biggest ever payout after a Pagani Zonda S was crashed in Aberdeen.
The accident happened in September last year when the £500,000-plus supercar was binned on a test drive. Aviva decided the car could be fixed and made arrangements to send the trashed piece of Italian exotica back to Pagani’s Modena factory for a hefty chunk of carbon surgery.
“This is the biggest insurance payout we have had for repairs to a private car in the UK. This is out of the ordinary for an insurer,” an Aviva spokesperson told the BBC.
“Although the vehicle was badly damaged, Aviva decided that the car may be repairable and set about making arrangements for the car to be shipped across to the manufacturer.”
Around ten of the ultra-exclusive Zondas are hand-made every year by the tiny sportscar company. The owner of the car has avoided a potentially vast insurance hike as the driver testing the car put in the claim.
