Peugeot is boxing clever. The French firm has announced that its 207 Sport HDi 110 hatchback and SW Sport and Outdoor HDi 110 models will all get a revised version of the firm’s 1.6-litre diesel engine. The unit now develops 112bhp, instead of 110bhp, and is connected to a new six-speed manual gearbox in place of the original five-ratio unit.
The new diesel engine now meets Euro 5 emission standards, while Peugeot has worked to make the unit more responsive, yet quieter than the outgoing powerplant. To aid driveability, torque is up 12.5 per cent, to 270Nm. The newcomer goes on sale next month, priced at £15,645.
