Inside line as Citroen opens up DS4

First shots of luxury cabin points way for production DS4

Inside line as Citroen opens up DS4

26th April 2010

Riding high on the success of the DS3, Citroen has opened the doors to the DS4. The DS High Rider concept was first revealed at March’s Geneva Motor Show, but blacked-out windows prevented us from looking inside. Only now has the firm revealed the concept’s interior – a thinly disguised version of how the production DS4’s cabin will look.

The DS4 will be even more luxurious than the small, stylish DS3, positioning itself as an upmarket Nissan Qashqai rival. The instrument panel, seats and door panels are all wrapped in high-quality leather, while the seats feature a ‘bracelet’ design on the panels, as well as a chrome DS logo below the headrest.

DS initials are embossed into the leatherwork on the dash and chrome detailing is used on the dials, steering wheel and Peugeot-style centre console. Steering wheel paddles plus a hybrid badge behind the
gearlever hint at the technology under the skin. But Citroen is sticking by a previous statement that the DS5 will be its first production hybrid – likely to be a similar set-up to the diesel-electric system on the forthcoming Peugeot 3008 hybrid.

When the DS4 goes on sale in 2011, expect to see an extra set of doors and marginally toned-down styling for the showroom.
