Say hello to the hottest Fabia ever! Skoda has just released the first pictures and details of the Fabia vRS, which comes in both hatchback and estate guises.
Under the bonnet is the same 1.4-litre TSI 180bhp engine that powers the SEAT Ibiza Cupra and upcoming Polo GTI. A 0-62mph time of 7.3 seconds and top speed of 139mph make this car the fastest production Fabia ever.
The vRS also shares a seven-speed DSG gearbox and virtual limited slip-diff (XDS) system with its Volkswagen group stablemates.
The sporty Skoda is differentiated from the standard Fabia by 17-inch alloy wheels, LED daytime running lights and a vRS body kit. A new paint, known as Rallye Green, is inspired by the Fabia S2000 rally car.
The upgrades continue inside with supportive vRS branded sports seats, a multi-function steering wheel and an iPod connection.
Previous incarnations of the vRS have been praised for their cheap running costs and this model is no different. Combined fuel economy of 45.6mpg and CO2 emissions of 148g/km mean trips to the pump won’t be too frequent and road tax will cost £125 a year.
Prices for the hatchback start at £15,700 and £16,495 for the estate. Both models go on sale in the UK from 29th July.

£15.7K for the VRS hatch? Who's going to pay £18k for the Polo GTi now? Just seen the VAT off offers on the standard new Fabia models as well. Makes me feel a bit sick about what I paid for my Fiesta. Just over 10 grand (VAT offer deal) for a brand new 1.2 TSi SE is an amazing price.
No matter what 'special badging' you place on it SKODA...your styling is just (how can i be nice about this)...UGLY! If you want to be competitive get someone from Pininfarina (i hope that's how it's spelt) and 'spiff' it up. Check out the big players..and copy them. Looking forward to the future.
Thats a very tempting price for the VRS. The estate looks terrible and hopefully they have a better range of colours for the hatch version as that green makes my stomach turn! Should do well this motor.
