Renault’s Citroen C6

Renault Latitude

09th June 2010

Big is beautiful for Renault! Despite shifting focus away from larger cars in Europe, big is best in many of the emerging markets. And Renault’s bid to conquer the likes of Asia, Africa, the Gulf States, Mexico, Turkey, Russia and Australia will be spearheaded by this, the new Latitude.

At 4.89-metres long, 1.83-metres wide and 1.49-metres high, the newcomer is almost exactly the same size as the Citroen C6. Based on the same platform as the Laguna-derived SM5, which was recently launched in Korea, the Latitude will offer generous amounts of space and equipment.

A spacious interior and class-leading boot are promised, and standard kit is set to include including a dual-mode air ioniser with double fragrance diffuser, triple-zone climate control, a massaging driver's seat, Bose Premium audio and Renault hands-free card.

The Latitude will make its public debut at the Moscow Motor Show in August, before making its European bow at the Paris show in October. No decision has been made on whether the car will be brought to the UK.

Renault needs to pull out of every country

Can someone please explain the appeal of Renault (leave Citroen and Peugeot for another day!). Their designs are drab, their technology is shockingly poor, and the reliability is as long lasting as a chocolate teapot. What am I missing here with people who buy these cars?

Update

"massaging driver's seat, Bose Premium audio"

Yupe so the driver doesn't feel the wheels falling off (Laguna launch of buggy software!), and the sound system will drown out the engine clatter from their diesels which sounds like an old Frenchman with serious asthma!

Please take a seat...

...and make yourself comfortable on this inaugral meeting of the Renault Appreciation Society...

We will be serving hot drinks as soon as we've figured out why the kettle isn't working and also why all the handles have fallen off the cups...

Renault is much batter than other cars...

Dear aarontp, I don't know why you hate Renault?! I owned a Renault car and other cars, and I find it much better than those cars e.g. Honda, Toyota.

Renault mon amour!

There are people who neither understand nor deserves wonderful cars like Renaults. One could think they could keep their mouths shut, and respect that other people have other opinions and that their opinion is not the only one.

There are many ideas of which car is the best. I of course agree with all the other Renault-fans in the world. But, even if I don´t always understand, I can always respect another man´s opinion, and appreciate that we share a common interest for cars instead of just being annoying to the other person.

I appreciate Renault of so many reasons; they are fun, nice designs, safe, reasonable prices, good materials and quality, well thought out constructions and they do have that special feeling; it feels like home, a happy home and that makes happy people! :)
