Ford has put the Mondeo under the knife! With styling updates, a more luxurious interior, new engines and technology, the blue oval’s family saloon – set to debut at the Moscow motor show in August – has been completely overhauled.
On the outside, the Mondeo gets new front and rear bumpers, a gaping lower trapezoid grille with chrome highlights and LED daytime running lights.
Ford is aiming for a premium feel on the inside, with new trim materials across the range, a new centre console design and LED courtesy lights. The Mondeo gets a new sat-nav system and a new sound system option with a 265-watt, eight-channel amp and 17-litre subwoofer.
There are big changes under the bonnet too, with Ford introducing new petrol and diesel engines. A 237bhp version of its 2.0-litre EcoBoost petrol unit with CO2 emissions kept down to 179g/km and a tuned-up version of its 2.2-litre Duratorq TDCi – with power up 12 per cent to 197bhp.
On top of those, there is Ford’s 200bhp 2.0-litre EcoBoost petrol engine and a range of 2.0-litre TDCi diesels available with 112, 137 or 160bhp. The firm’s dual-clutch Powershift transmission will come as standard on EcoBoost models and as an option for the 137 and 160bhp oil burners.
Too boost efficiency Ford is offering Smart Regenerative Breaking, Ford Eco Mode and an Active Grille Shutter System – which regulates airflow through the radiator and the engine compartment to reduce drag and help warm the engine up quicker.
A range of new driver assistance features will also be available, including Lane Departure Warning, Driver Alert, Auto High Beam, Blind Sport Information System and Rear View Camera.
UK specs, trim levels and pricing have yet to be confirmed but the new Mondeo is due to go on sale here in October.

I've never seen a Mondeo as beautiful as this. It may look like the new S-MAX and Galaxy, but this is just the best looking car I have EVER seen in my life.
For me, it has become a legend, and, without question, my no.1 favourite car of all time because it is just perfect on everything.
I just need to win the lottery so I can have one!! :P

Looks like Ford have realised at last that there is no point spending millions designing a car and then sticking an ugly radio aerial on top the roof, which makes it look like a dodgem car. Its only a simple change, but one which makes the car look like a premium product rather than something that belongs at the funfair.
"completely overhauled" - a new grill and some LED's! - I do love the way motoring journalists make it up as they go along!
I know design is subjective but I'm not sure where JPW2010 has been all his (?) life. Perfect? Beautiful? Hell, I could name dozens of cars more attractive. Maybe when he realises that like all Fords, it'll be overpriced and will depcreciate faster than a politician's promise.
A blander, more boring looking car it is hard to think of! Personally i have always thought they nicked the design of the current Mondeo from the old Mazda 626 - do you remember that? They nicked the design of the previous one from VW - although on the right wheels I thought the previous Mondeo was quite a looker. But the current one! Oh dear.
New Mondeo unvailed.
If you hadn't have said, i woudn't have known.
Still has an ugly rear end.
The big question that must be answered, will water flood into the boot when you lift the boot lid up in the rain?
A completely hapless design in the past few mondeos.
I have to say for a family car, the Mondeo in its current shape is a fairly good looking car. If you want to see boring, look no further than the latest Golf - how do VW get away with it, time after time?
There is nothing remotely special about the Mondeo's looks, and this facelift alters nothing, in fact I think the 'new' front end looks a bit tacky! The latest Fiesta shows that Ford can still design a good motor....but this ain't it!
Looks really good, escpecially the One with the bodykit. However, with the 240PS one, Ford should rip off the' Titanium X sport' badge and replace it with a 'ST' badge.
Did the designer have a 20minute job of slight change design on this facelift version! How dull. Sack him...
That oval sticker should be utilised to carry a '1% improved' flash. Totally pointless exercise, but loving the fact that Ford are now saving the executive business man a trip to Halfords to buy some chavvy 'daytime running lights'
Looks like the old one but this one cut itself shaving. What is with them running lights? Above all it's a Mondeo, nothing to get excited about and not a dream car. The old Mondeo 2000 - 2006 was the nicest. I think this one reminds me of the Police car in Home and Away.
Its just the old car with tacky, stuck-on LEDs and a bit more plastic 'chrome'. Not nice.
More of the same - just a bit more tinsel.
The Mondeo is however a great car - drives well, great package and a few more trimmings in its run-out years will make it better value.
Not sure it was worth an announcement though.
Now it looks even more bloated. Well done Ford!

Ford fans will love this!
Meanwhile the rest of us can enjoy the great cars from other manufacturers that are on sale everywhere.
...I would like auto_fanatic_58 to tell me what car drives better than the current Mondeo? The Mondeo beats premium models from other manufactures hands down on all aspects of driving and ownership!
I'm not a Ford fan despite owning a 10 plate focus, it just does everthing I need from car, with great handling and a better overall package than the Golf, Seat and Astra I also considered.
Ford will still equip most versions of this huge car with undersized wheels, although they're not, by any means, the only manufacturer that does this.
This car is really beautiful... of course it looks a little bland compared to more modern shapes like the Mazda 6... but its the best balance between modern and classy. No rush to be futuristic here. Is surely bland in entry level trim...but look at the white one in the body kit. Will turn heads over and again. Will anger the BMW driver whose wife keeps turning their head and saying...wow what car is that?
I love the look of the new Mondeo. People make me laugh how they think the day light running lights are chavvy, but within the next 2 years every car will have them as standard, so get use to it, blame Audi!
Other than that good looking car, i'm really hope one day Ford will bring out an RS Cosworth version like the good old Serria days, would be nice to see a RS500 3 door version. Oh well keep dreaming!
Looks like dozen's of other cars on the road! - BORING!
The 1st 2 comments (should have gone to spec savers),another lazy Ford update, think it's a case of if it aint broke.
The previous model was so much nicer.
Time for a new designer?
