Buyers to build own Corvette engines

It’s the options list with a difference. As well as the usual choices of colour and trim, US buyers of the Corvette Z06 or ZR1 are being offered the chance to help hand-assemble their car’s LS7 or LS9 engines.

The firm claims the offer of the Corvette Engine Build Experience at its Wixom, Michigan is a world first, and costs ,800 (£3,860) on top of the price of the car.

The engine build option is just one of several activities Corvette buyers can participate in. The firm also offers driving schools in Arizona or Nevada, the option of taking delivery of their car at the National Corvette Museum, and watching their ’Vette being built at the Corvette assembly plant in Bowling Green, Kentucky.
