Honda tweaks Insight hybrid

Customer feedback prompts suspension and trim changes.

Honda has used insight from its customers to improve its five-door hybrid. Taking on board the views of the first Insight buyers, the Japanese firm has elected to make a number of changes to the car’s suspension, to counter criticisms that the car’s ride is too harsh.

To improve comfort, the recoil rate of the suspension springs has been softened, the rear camber angles have been changed and alterations have been made to the V-shape rear suspension brace and adjusting mounts. Honda hopes that the package of tweaks will deliver improved ride, handling and stability.

As well as the mechanical changes, the firm has added a new range-topping EX trim which features leather seats and sat nav as standard. Honda has also added rear parking sensors to ES-model Insights and above, and has changed some trim to smarten the interior.

Insight prices start at £16,325 for the SE model, rising to £20,215 for the EX.

So what?

Given that the Insight is a very poor cousin to the Prius - and that diesel technology essentially trumps both of these - and that the green credentials of any hybrid are at best questionable - do a few tweaks really matter?

Are these "tweaked" Insights available now? The reason is that Honda presently has a promotion running for cut price Insights, but are these old stock they're just trying to offload?
How would anyone know the difference if you were considering buying one just now?
