Skoda has 15 reasons to celebrate. The firm has announced that it sold 378,747 vehicles worldwide in the first half of 2010 - an increase of nearly 15 per cent when compared to the same period of last year.
“Skoda continues its growth trend with new record numbers. In particular, the brand has profited from high demand in China, as well as a positive trend in Western and Eastern European market”, said Reinhard Fleger, Member of the Board responsible for Sales.
The brand has profited from increased demand in Europe thanks to the widespread availability of scrappage schemes introduced by governments to stimulate car sales during the economic downturn. But the major sales success has been in China, where Skoda sold 84,135 vehicles from January to June 2010, 82.3 per cent more than in the first half of 2009.
The best selling Skoda model worldwide was the Octavia which sold 158,024 cars, followed by the Yeti (25,868 vehicles) and the Superb, which accounted for 47,830 cars sold - an increase of almost 150 per cent. Additionally, 111,967 Fabias and 14,900 Roomsters were delivered to customers.

Oh no, the worlds best kept secret is out. Skodas are brilliant cars, I have had brand new Audi A6 and jaguars and beleive me my new dsg vrs Octavia is in my opinion equally as good to drive. The smooth power delivery is awesome. I think in raceing blue it looks very nice too but there will always be uninformed badge snobs so go and pay £10000 more for a same specced golf gti with a smaller boot (mine cost £16500 with metallic and auto). I love it.
