It’s out with the old and in with the new generation. Replacing the previous Extreme trim level, Renault has announced its new Mégane Generation, priced from £10,995.

Available as a five-door hatch only, Generation buyers do have the choice of either a 1.6-litre petrol engine or 1.5-litre dCi diesel. Both engines use five-speed gearboxes.

Despite the price, both cars feature and MP3-compatible stereo, air conditioning, cruise control, electric door mirrors and front windows and ESC.

The petrol-powered car is being offered as part of Renault’s ‘Vive Le Summer’ promotion. At £10,995, the Mégane is £3,000 less than the recommended retail price. Outside of the offer, at £13,995 for the petrol and £15,755 for the diesel, both models are £860 cheaper than their predecessors.
