It’s a muscle car show-down! These pictures prove General Motors has been benchmarking their upcoming Chevrolet Camaro Z28 against the Mustang GT500 in pre-production tests.
Through the front-end camouflage we can see the newcomer sports a much larger air intake in the lower fascia as well as a pronounced lip spoiler. With the camo pulled over the front tightly, a new set of inlets on either end of the bumper can also be seen.
It doesn’t just look sporty either. A 550bhp 6.2-litre supercharged V8 will provide the Z28 with blistering straight line speed, while Goodyear Eagle F1 Supercar G2 tyres and the brakes from a Cadillac CTS-V should help complete an impressive all round package.
This particular prototype is fitted with an automatic transmission, but cars will come as standard with a six-speed manual gearbox.
Look out for the Camaro Z28 to go on sale in the middle of 2011.
