Hyundai’s i40 estate is looking to put the boot into big-name rivals, and these are the pictures that prove it!
Our spy photographers snapped this prototype model testing and hiding underneath the camouflage is a sharp look recognisable as the Sonata driven here.
There will be a few changes before the car arrives here as the i40 though. As you can see from the pictures a set of LED daytime running lights has been added, and the pronounced chrome grille has been slightly toned down.
At the rear, heavy cladding makes it difficult to gleam any details about how the back will shape up but expect a raked roofline and stylish lights to give the newcomer a sporty profile.
Under the bonnet, expect to see a 1.7-litre turbodiesel engine and 140bhp 1.6-litre petrol engine. Both units can be mated to six-speed automatic or six-speed manual gearboxes.
The i40 estate will go on sale in May next year (with the saloon following in November) and prices will start at around £18,000.
