Nissan’s GT-R is set for the most comprehensive update yet! To go with the freshly updated look revealed in these leaked pictures, Nissan’s halo-car will get a few engineering tweaks as well as welcoming a luxurious new Spec-M model to the range.
Visually, the GT-R gets new daytime running lights and a restyled front bumper, while at the back there’s a new diffuser. The tweaks are functional too, the new shape improves the GT-R’s aerodynamics, with the drag coefficient dropping from 0.272 to 0.268. The updated diffuser has improved downforce by 10%.
The black and blue paint finishes shown in the picture are all-new for the updated car and will be named Aurora Flare Blue Pearl and Nebula Opal Black.
The driving experience will be improved too. A new set of forged aluminium wheels are 12kg lighter than the existing units, helping to improve everything from acceleration to handling.
Spec-M variants offer buyers new levels of customisation and there’s a £4,000 optional pearlescent white finish unique to the luxurious supercar. Among the changes will be softer springs, more comfortable leather seats and a wide selection of interior colours and materials.
All new models will see power and torque from the twin-turbcoharged 3.8-litre V6 increased and efficiency improved by around 3%.
The lighter and more powerful performance focused Spec-V will also inherit the latest updates. Below that, base models will now be labelled Pure Edition.
In Japan prices for the Spec-M start at £115,000 and Pure Edition models start at £66,000.

For almost 60 thousand pounds.......the diff between the Pure and the Spec-M, you'd sure expect more than a few choices, but what fantastic choices. And I bet there were buyers that held back as the ride was too 'severe' who will now leap at one. I'm green :-)
Oh, if Nissan could only lighten it a little now, because as the worlds best supercar, it's still too lardy. Come to think of it, an F430 is way lighter, but I'd never drive a Ferrari.
Nissan need to address the poor servicing intervals ( 6K or 6 months) and the manopoly on Tyres they currently have.
They are controlling the tyre market here anyway and pushing prices through the roof to boot, £2K+ fitting ect is nothing short of robbery, improve these areas and see sales improve IMO.
believe me i am a huge gt-r fan but i can't believe that they added a set of tacky aftermarket style led daytime running lights. i mean, what were they thinking? if they REALLY wanted to add some, the least they could have done is to make it look half decent and flow with the bodywork, instead of making them look like bloody afterthoughts. same goes for the vents behind the rear wheels/next to the exhaust tips. tacky to say the least. if i was in the market, i would grab the current model while i can.
IMO, the daytime running lights aren't that bad. Nissan were obliged to fit them due to upcoming European legislation anyway. It's much cheaper to incorporate them into into a moderately redesigned fender than to invest heavily in retooling halfway through a models lifetime...
I am completely sold on it and its design line - it looks really mean and great. And it is different from some of the others that slavishly follow the same line for years. Well done Nissan - now build it in Sunderland!
