Skoda Yeti sold out

Easter delivery for Skoda’s acclaimed SUV, but prices of models ordered now won’t rise.

Skoda Yeti sold out

By Richard Yarrow

05th November 2010

If you want a Yeti for Christmas, hard luck! Such is the demand for the Auto Express Car of the Year 2010 that if you order now, you might get it for Easter 2011.

Skoda dealers have revealed order books are bulging, with more than 3,700 UK sales already this year, and 4,300 since the car launched in September 2009.

“We’re pleased customers like the Yeti and it’s proving to be extremely popular, especially with predictions of another icy winter,” said a spokeswoman. “But demand is stronger than anticipated – that’s why delivery is taking up to 24 weeks.”

Recognising the problems the delay is causing, Skoda has guaranteed to ‘price protect’ any Yeti order placed before the end of December. “This means the sale won’t be affected by the VAT increase in the new year,” the spokeswoman added.

“The price of the car now is what customers will pay when it is handed over in 2011.” The brand’s rise to a serious volume player in the new car market isn’t just limited to its acclaimed SUV. Skoda UK is on track for a record sales total in 2010, and similar delays in excess of 20 weeks have built up on other models.

Skoda = the best VWs you can buy! By a country mile as well now so it seems.

In total agreement...

Well said AndyG. I took a Skoda Superb out for a test drive a while back and it was, for want of a better word, 'Superb'. It was refined, fantastically well built and the handling belied its size. Good reliability is a given and residuals are up with the best. All and sundry used to laugh at Skoda, but the only ones laughing these days are Skoda owners, and they are laughing at the rest of us...

Had my Yeti for a few months now, problem free, fantastic to drive , and is more practical than the Qashqai. Well done Skoda.

much better

i've always had a soft spot for skoda. I'd rather sink my money into one of these than a seat or vw. yes the residual wont be as strong as a vw, but seats residuals are crap anyway, plus skodas are much better. Get over the badge snobbery and you've got a fantastic car......
