A bizarre legal battle over the name Zoe has been won by Renault. The families of several girls called Zoe Renault took the firm to court in France over its plan to call its new electric car the Zoe.
The suit was filed against Renault on October 13th, and after just under a month of deliberation, the Paris District Court has found in favour of the French carmaker.
The judge refused to believe that the girls would be subjected to mocking by other children as a result of the plan and thus did not approve the request to prohibit the trademark Zoe, considering that it involved “no imminent damage, nor invasion of privacy, nor outrage against human dignity.”
Renault already uses girl’s names for its Clio and Mégane models. The zero-emissions Zoe is due to go on sale in UK showrooms in the first half of 2012.

Shame it's crap french car. I doubt if Bentley or Ferrarilaunched a car called Zoe that any girls called Zoe Bentley or Zoe Ferrari would be filling a court suit over it, so I can see their point!
My ex-girlfriend Norma Stitz would love to have a car named after her.

Nice looking small car problem is how many guys will drive a car called Zoe and not feel a bit girlie? A car really named for a female in mind to drive, not fair Renault, it has the same name as my ex who is a bit of a cow to say the least!
