Kia is introducing special edition VR-7 versions of the Cee’d and Pro_cee’d. Originally, the VR-7 edition was only available on the 1.4-litre petrol powered Cee’d, but now the Korean firm has expanded it to the 1.6-litre diesel version of the Focus-rivalling three- and five-door hatches.

The VR-7 is based on the entry-level 1 trim level, and includes Bluetooth, iPod connectivity and reverse parking sensors, plus 16-inch alloys, electric mirrors and leather-trimmed steering wheel, gear knob and handbrake lever. Kia claims that despite the extra kit, the VR-7 edition offers a cost saving of up to £815.

Order books for the new cars open today. Taking into account January’s VAT rise, the VR-7 pro_cee’d costs £13,220, while the five-door Cee’d comes in at £13,420. As with the rest of Kia’s range, all cars come with the firm’s seven-year warranty.

Kia has also added a new version of its top-spec KX-3 Sorento which includes sat-nav as standard. The new unit adds an integrated satellite navigation system, an uprated Hi-Fi and a colour reversing camera.

Available to order now, the Sorento KX-3 Sat-Nav Manual and KX-3 Sat-Nav Automatic are priced at £31,155 and £32,635 respectively, and prices also include VAT at 20 per cent.

Two Faced

Does the Pro_Cee'd have the facelift available on the 5 door Cee'd, because I'm tempted by the coupe(ish) profile and rear of the Pro_Cee'd, but not sure about the original front of the car.

Korean rubbish

I can't understand why anybody would buy the rubbish, l would rather invest in a car made in the UK made by J/LR, Mini, Honda, Nissan, Toyota or Vauxhall helping keeping Brits in jobs & employed.

Koreans done the best out of the UK scrappage scheme but banned everybody else from their scheme.

I couldn't agree more Richie767

Sadly the rest of the UK's car buying public couldn't care less, hence we barely have car industry we can call our own. Shame when I think what could have been. Now we are all paying for their shortsighted purchasing with our crippling debts, as we buy in more than we export. Well done them!

Bottom Line is Cost & Reliability

I whole heartily agree with the 2 previously comments, but the bottom line is Cost & Reliability, bearing in mind, that people on low incomes need low cost cars to start off in the world.

Expensive Rubbish,

How much for a KIA? Yes we all know about the seven years warranty but come on what else are you going to offer people stupid enough to buy a KIA? Why pay the price for something that is not as good as something much better for the same money? It is quite obvious that a lot of people don't do their research before they part with their hard earned cash for one of these cars, people there is better cars for your money, by buying a quality car will put all the rubbish car manufactures out of business to make rubbish car and for them to carry on manufacturing car they will have to build better cars to stay in the game.

Get A Grip

How can people with an ounce of judgement brand a car Expensive Rubbish or Korean rubbish? Are we quite young and dont remember when we used to make the best rubbish ever produced by any country? Are we too young to remember cars being off the road waiting for spare parts because everyone was on strike and the costs associated with that. I seem to remember people like the above talking about cheap and nasty Japanese products in those days. Am I wrong or are these the people that know do quite a good job as the 'British Motor Industry'.

Kia rio 51 plate owner - 108,000miles and still going strong!

I can see 2 valid comments here - koupekid pointing at the present which is the value and quality such manufactures from the far east such as Kia and their sister company and owner now represent and Lowflyers - taking a look back at how all this started when indeed Japanese cars, perhaps about the best in the world, were ridiculed and laughed and were just cheap, rusty rubbish.

I fully believe its a matter of say 10 to 15 years before not only Kia/Hyundai will be the biggest, but also perhaps the best.

For those sceptics out there, take the example, as above, of the Japanese car industry...ignore these guys at your peril!

NB One last point; if those who would care to do their research into Kia's, they would understand that: A) Peter Schreyer who was Audi and Aston Martins chief designer (Beetle, TT and I believe DB7) is now Kia's chief designer. B)Their head of design is now based in Frankfurt, Germany and C) Kia's main factory for Europe is in Slovakia, thus helping create opportunities in Europe. Their other massive factory is in Atlanta Georgia in the US. D) Lastly, kia's head office is in Brooklands, Weybridge, creating jobs for the British public.

I rest my case. Do I work for Kia? No. Would I like to? Yes.

Lazy Brits...

I agree with leong1983 100%. Who killed the British car industry? Well, we did of course. Why? Because British car workers wanted more money for less effort, that's why. We only have ourselves to blame for our current state of affairs...

Harsh but so true...
