If 2010 was the year that the car industry got back on its feet after the global recession, 2011 is shaping up to be the year when it gets back in its stride.

From the launch of the £1.2million Aston Martin One-77 in January to the arrival of Renault’s tiny electric Twizy by December, plus the arrival of the all-new Focus in March, there’s new and interesting metal to suit all tastes and budgets.

Here’s our guide to the hottest new cars of 2011, arranged by the month they’ll be arriving in UK showrooms:
