£11,405 for a Smart?
Anybody in this current climate would buy second hand even if it is 1 year old. Take a 1 year old Smart Fortwo, it costs £6900*. Thats a whopping £4000 in 1 year depreciation.
You have to be mad to buy this car brand new because for example you can buy a Toyota Prius for £14,500* 1 year old (new shape) and that car has a 1.8 liter engine with hybrid technology that disperses 89g/km and has twice as many doors and is a normal car!

I test drove a Smart CDI recently and even in Pulse spec it's an awful lot of money. However, there are deals out there, so don't expect to pay full price for any Fortwo. The down-side is that the new Renault/Mercedes/Smart partnership is promising a new model in the near future, so expect even steeper depreciation when that happens. The new one will have to compete with the new MINI Minor, Fiat 500 Twin-Air as well as the IQ, plus all the other sub 100g/kilometre cars coming along. Might be better to hold off rather than blow your cash on this.
