Land Rover has launched a new limited edition version of the Defender. Called the X-Tech, the newcomer makes its debut at the Brussels Motorshow and will go on sale from March, starting at £24,995

Based on the 90 Hard Top Commercial derivative, the X-Tech’s exterior is painted in Zermatt Silver, with a contrasting black finish to the roof and wheel arches. The X-Tech Defender also debuts newly-designed gloss black 16-inch Saw Tooth alloy wheels. The interior is available in Ebony and the seats now feature leather side bolsters.

The Defender X-Tech is powered by a 2.4-litre diesel engine with 360Nm. Despite the special edition spec, buyers can still pick from the full range of accessories also available.

Meh

I would love to see the Defenders imported into the States again, especially this model. The last year we can buy them was 94 and they sell for ,000-,000. One can hope though.

A luxury utility vehicle

What will those marketing people come up with next? No wonder the planet is in the dire state it is with people opting for "Zermatt Silver, with a contrasting black finish and gloss black 16-inch Saw Tooth alloy wheels" which actually detract from the utility of the vehicle and, more importantly, which take resources which others are, literately, dying for.

It's not for me

I am a big fan of the Defender, and I can see the appeal of a luxury version. But maybe this is a bit 'boy racer' for my liking. Why not re-issue a Tomb Raider version, or maybe a Defender Autobiography? Come on Land Rover, use a bit of common sense.

@chrisandrea

Could you please X-plain what you mean by your comments?

People are dying because Land Rover are offering 'Black' alloys instead of silver ones? Do 'Black' wheels hinder the Landies capability on boggy ground? What makes a silver and black Landie more environmentally unfriendly than say, a Barbie Pink Landie?

Enquiring minds need to know...

@chrisandrea

I find these type of comments typically like the one that you make so amusing and at the same time frustrating, one has to wonder if you are not from another planet, or possibly you are a politician, only a brainless human can agree with your totally illogical comment!
