The Tokyo Auto Salon is the world’s largest annual aftermarket parts show, and took place over the past weekend. The event is Toyota’s home show, and the Japanese brand turned out in force with a host of tweaked, tuned and modified motors.
Star of the firm’s stand was a racing concept version of the Toyota iQ. Called the GRMN (Gazoo Racing tuned by MN) iQ Racing Concept, the car is the work of the racing team that prepares the Lexus LFA supercars for events like the Nurburgring 24-hour race.
To ensure it looks the part, the iQ features a beefed-up bodykit, racing wheels and LED daytime running lights. The interior now features a full rollcage, while power is increased thanks to a tuned- supercharged engine. A limited production run is possible.
Also on display were Prius and Yaris models tuned by G Sports, while Toyota Racing Developments showed its Auris GT Concept.
