Volkswagen has confirmed that the new Jetta is now available to order at VW dealers, from £16,960 - £685 cheaper than the equivalent five-door VW Golf.
That gets you the entry-level Jetta S 1.4-litre TSI petrol, which comes with air conditioning, an MP3 compatible CD stereo, six airbags, ABS and ESP as standard. There are three spec levels to choose from, with the range topping Sport costing £22,320.
The Jetta range is available with two petrol and two diesel engines. The petrol units are both 1.4-litre TSI units, with either 120bhp or 158bhp outputs, while the diesel engine range comprises a 1.6-litre TDI with 104bhp and a 2.0-litre TDI with 138bhp.
The smaller diesel and larger petrol are available with seven-speed DSG gearboxes, while the large diesel can be had with a six-speed DSG transmission. The 1.6-litre TDI also includes stop-start, and is capable of returning 67.3mpg and emits 109g/km of CO2.
The Jetta is available to order now, with first customer deliveries due in May.
