The Alfa Romeo Giulietta range has been boosted by the addition of a new mid-range diesel engine. Slotting into the line-up between the 105bhp 1.6-litre diesel and 170bhp 2.0-litre diesel, the new diesel is aimed at offering both fleet and private buyers a balance between performance and economy.
The 2.0-litre unit develops 140bhp and 320Nm in normal mode, but can produce 350Nm when ‘dynamic’ mode is selected on the standard-fit DNA system, which controls the engine’s ECU. Top speed is 127mph and the Giulietta will hit 62mph from rest in nine seconds.
For drivers with an eye on running costs, the 140bhp diesel returns 62.8mpg and 119g/km of carbon dioxide, thanks to its standard fit stop-start system, and the car’s service intervals stretch to 21,000 miles.
The 140bhp Alfa Romeo Giulietta diesel is on sale now, priced at £20,750 for the Lusso model, and £22,050 for the Veloce.
