It’s all smiles at Land Rover’s Halewood plant on Merseyside as the factory celebrates building its 250,000th Freelander. The milestone model is a 2.2-litre TD4 Diesel GS in Fuji White and is destined for a customer who lives in Scotland.
Production of the Freelander 2 began at Halewood in 2007, and today is the day that the landmark car will roll off the production line.
Land Rover is also celebrating a growing demand for the Freelander 2, as the firm has posted sales that are up 22 per cent for the year to date – April 2010 to February 2011, when compared with the same 11 month period in 2009/2010.
As well as its success with the Freelander, Halewood is already hard at work building the first Evoque five-door and Evoque Coupe models which will both run down the Merseyside production line.
