BMW’s M division has sprung a leak! These pictures and video of the upcoming M5 Concept have found their way onto the internet weeks before the new model’s official unveiling at the Shanghai Motor Show
Despite the Concept name, the car in these pictures will be all but unchanged from the production model that we’ll see on the roads towards the end of this year. That means a more aggressive bodykit, complete with subtle quad exhausts and a body-coloured rear diffuser. Don’t expect the black alloys to be included as standard though.
Since BMW killed off the last M5’s 5.0-litre V10 engine, the F10 M5 will be powered by a 4.4-litre twin-turbo V8 with a seven-speed dual clutch gearbox. The engine is related to that in the X6M, which has 547bhp but expect to see power boosted to nearer 560bhp in the M5.
While official figures are yet to be released, performance will be improved over the current car which can sprint from 0-62mph in 4.7 seconds. Economy will also be improved over the old model’s 19mpg figure.
The saloon goes on sale in November, with an estate likely to follow. Prices are set to start from £65,000.
