The definitive British sports car just got even sportier! Caterham has released images and full details on a new addition to its range - the Supersport - which promises a race-car experience for under £20,000.

Its 1.6-litre Ford-sourced engine produces just 138bhp, but as the total kerbweight is a measly 520kg there's plenty of performance on offer. The 0-62mph sprint takes just 4.9 seconds but it will feel even faster than that thanks to the open roof and classic low seating position.

Other upgrades include shorter gear ratios for increased acceleration, a limited slip differential to boost grip in the bends and firmer springs and dampers. Racing bucket seats, four-point harnesses and shift lights on the dash complete the race-inspired makeover.

If you fancy building it yourself the Supersport is yours for £19,995, or for an extra £3,000 you can have it screwed together for you at the factory.
