It's business time at Alfa! In a bid to capture a bigger slice of the company car market, the Italian maker has introduced a new 136bhp diesel engine to its 159 line-up, which emits only 134g/km CO2 and returns a combined 55.4mpg.
Performance should still be brisk however, as the 2.0-litre JTDM unit offers an impressive 350Nm of torque from just 1,750rpm, with 0-62mph despatched in just 9.9 seconds.
There are three revised trims to choose from, however the entry 'Turismo' is already very generously equipped, with 16-inch alloys, cruise and climate control and Bluetooth all included as standard.
The comfort-oriented 'Lusso' adds leather seats, sports dials, black aluminium centre console and steering wheel inserts, rear parking sensors and 17 inch multispoke alloy wheels, while the sportier Ti version comes with 19-inch wheels, lowered suspension, red painted brake calipers and black leather and alcantara sports seats as well as a leather sports steering wheel and satin effect wing mirrors. Carbon fibre inserts are available as an option.
Available to order now, prices start at £22,500 for the Turismo saloon and rise to £26,900 for the fully loaded Ti Sportwagon estate.

The design is a few years old now but this still the best looking in this sector by a country mile!
Audi, BMW, VW this is how a car should be styled. Please look and learn!
I agree with AndyG, seen one the other day in traffic. So wanted to be in it. Driver had an Alfa jacket on as well...
In my opinion the Alfa Romeo 159 (Designed by Giorgetto Giugiaro) looks superb! especially in the Ti & Q4 versions! and has best styling in segment. I think only the new Audi A4 (Designed by Walter De Silva) comes close of it's rivals.
Either this, or the last Galant (to 2003), was the finest looking saloon ever.
Before the nosejob it was an original looking car, but when it recieved the Brera's nose it became a supermodel. Yes, I agree with the above: no other car in it's class looks this good!
Nice to look at but well behind dynamically now. I owned a 2008 diesel for 2 years from new and it was nowhere near refined enough for the money. Most Fords handle better. I felt let down and disappointed by it because it failed to deliver what its looks promised.
There are issues as well - dual mass flywheels, weak clutches, steering racks, chocolate brakes and alarming tyre wear on the Ti spec with 19" wheels.
Keep the poster on the wall
You quoted a list of 'issues' really?? That's why Alfa Romeo in a UK independant durability destruction component / mechanical endurance race track test outperformed all of it's rivals! That's why Alfa Romeo have come top in German reliability league tables three years running! That's also why the Alfa 159 came top in a German handling contest! As regards to Ford, it's not premium or prestige and can't match Alfa's design & styling.
Still very pretty, still barely cracks 10,000 units per year. Worldwide! A4, 3-series, C-Class, their weekly output is more than Alfa's 159 annual!
