These are the first pictures of the new Impreza that Subaru promises will be as good to look at as it is to drive!
With a bold new design, the car will be officially revealed at the New York Motor Show and is set to go on sale in the UK early next year.
Two versions of the car, including the saloon pictured here and a still secret five-door hatch are expected to be revealed, both offering more interior space and greater luxury.
Revised headlamps and trapezoidal front fog light surrounds are among the most obvious changes. However, drivers also get a new wing mirror arrangement and prominent Subaru badging.
At the rear, There are new taillamps and a deeper rear bumper. In profile, the car keeps the distinctive slash lines above the rear wheels.
The Subaru also gets an updated four-cylinder engine "boxer" engine and optional CVT automatic gearbox, designed to help save fuel. The firm's trademark four-wheel drive system will remain.
Under the skin however, changes are less significant. The car is based on the third generation Impreza first launched in 2008 and keeps that car's suspension and braking system.
Prices are still to be announced - don't forget to check back next week to see the first official pictures.

Subaru have made a good job of making this new Impreza sharper looking - from the front at least - with its Legacy style front end, but its still not very distinctive from the side profile and rear views. The overall look resembles that of a Honda Civic saloon - and thats not really a compliment. OK, so the main reason for buying one will be the mechanics and driving experience. Be very interesting to see what the forthcoming hatch and coupe bodystyles will be like.
