It’s makeover time for the Cayenne and Panamera, as Porsche gives its two most recent models an updated range of engines and some extra options.

Under its bonnet the Cayenne gets a revised 3.0-litre V6 diesel engine, which manages to squeeze out an extra 5bhp extra, while CO2 emissions have been reduced to 189g/km, and this means that the off-roader is now eligible for the 30% BIK band for company car taxation.

The 0-62mph sprint has been lowered too, now rated at 7.6 seconds, while the Cayenne’s top speed is up to 137mph. And the improvements don’t stop there either; fuel efficiency has risen to 39mpg, too.

In regards to the S Hybrid, the driving experience is been made considerably smoother thanks to the ability to run on just electric power at low speeds and impressively even from a cold start.

At the performance end of the scale, the Turbo version now comes available with an optional powerkit, which boosts horsepower by 40 up to 540bhp and torque by 50Nm to 750Nm. This all means that 0-62mph drops by 0.1 seconds to 4.6 seconds, while the top speed increases 3mph to 176mph. Fuel consumption and emissions remain unchanged at 24.6mpg and 270g/km CO2.

A similar performance kit will also be available for the Panamera Turbo. This comes with optional Porsche Ceramic Composite Brakes, which feature larger 420mm diameter front discs.

Other new additions for the Cayenne include tinted LED rear lights, Bi-Xenon headlights in black and quad sports exhausts. The interior can be customised with new decorative stitching and leather, mahogany wood, a milled aluminium Tiptronic-S gear lever and stainless steel and carbon doorsill guards.

Porsche has also introduced updates to the Panamera including the option of wireless internet access, a Lane Change Assist system which monitors the blind spot and informs the driver when a vehicle is in this area. Bi-Xenon headlights in black and a redesigned sports exhaust are also new options.

Prices for all upgrades and options will be confirmed nearer the release of the updated models in June.
