From a reborn Honda Beat to a beat-up Honda – the firm’s FR-V has been named the most accident-prone car in the UK by Confused.com.

The insurance comparison site says 18 per cent of the 2,529 FR-V owners searching for quotes on its site during the last 12 months had made claims in the past five years – more than for any other vehicle owned by customers. Big cars were more prone to prangs, the data also revealed. Among the top 10 models with the highest claim rates, 80 per cent were MPVs and SUVs.

The Volvo XC90 and Lexus RX took second and third spot, with rates of 15.9 and 15.5 per cent. The model with the lowest claim rate was the Mazda 2, at 0.8 per cent.
