BMW has made a four-door version of its hardcore GTS coupe. Called the M3 CRT (Carbon Racing Technology) it uses carbon fiber for the bonnet, seat-backs and roof. All this, plus a titanium exhaust, brings weight down to 1,580 kg – a reduction of 45 kg over the standard M3 saloon.

BMW has also given the GTS some unique design features to make it stand out. These include a blacked-out grille with matching hood vents, wing side blades accented in red and a carbon fiber boot spoiler.
Inside, the rear seats, kick plates and door panels get carbon fiber and aluminum decorative trim.
Power is from the same 4.4-litre V8 from the GTS. With 444 bhp on tap, an increase of 30bhp over the standard car, 0-62mph takes just 4.4 seconds while top speed is now180 mph. So that’s the good news. And now for the bad: only 67 BMW M3 CRTs will be made and they will cost around £116,000.

Yes, the carbon fibre bits may help it look more exclusive than the standard M3 and GTS variant but £116k puts it in supercar territory for pricing and competition.
