Vauxhall’s Astra range has always been missing an eco-special that could rival the Golf Bluemotion and Focus ECOnetic, but now there’s a new ecoFLEX model that emits just 99g/km of CO2 making it the cleanest Astra ever.
The new model gets a stop/start system and subtle aerodynamic tweaks – including a ride height lowered by 12mm – to help achieve the road-tax free figure. Combined fuel economy has also been improved to 76.3mpg.
As well as reducing CO2 Vauxhall has also managed to retain impressive performance. The Astra ecoFLEX produces 128bhp from its 1.7 CDTi engine – a 5bhp improvement over the previous 1.7-litre ecoFLEX.
As well as this, it emits less CO2 than the smaller, less powerful 1.3 ecoFLEX stop/start model which manages just 104g/km.
The car will be in showrooms later this year, and prices will be announced later.r.
