De Tomaso's famous supercar is set for a return – the Italian company says it will reveal a new Pantera at November's 2011 Los Angeles Motor Show.
The firm is already rumoured to be running prototypes of the car near its headquarters in Grugliasco, Italy – and the new model is set to follow the same script as the original, with a Ford V8 mounted in the middle of the car, driving the rear wheels.
The original Pantera produced 330bhp giving it a top speed of 160mph.
However, the new one will reportedly have 550bhp, giving De Tomaso a rival to the Ferrari 458 Italia and McLaren MP4-12C.
Set to reach showrooms in 2012, the car is expected to cost around £150,000.

What next for a comeback? Glam Rock?
How about flares and mullets?
Can't wait to see it.
I always hoped that VW would buy " De Tomaso" and make it Lamborghini's baby brother like Ferrari and Maserati.
I dreamt of a new Pantera, with the Audi 4.2 litre V8, like the Gumpert Apollo, and a new Mangusta with the Audi TT 3.2 Litre V6.
Looking forward to the new car anyway.
