Porsche has responded to burgeoning demand for its Cayenne by announcing a significant increase in production from next year.
So far in 2011, Cayenne sales figures are up 37 per cent and waiting lists for the big SUV have reached 12 months in some markets, especially in China. As a result, Porsche will increase production by between 10 and 20 per cent starting in 2012.

The Stuttgart based company sold 97,000 cars in 2010, and is hoping to reach the magic figure of 100,000 units this year. The ‘Cajun’ compact 4x4 is also on the way, and this Range Rover Evoque rival will form a key part of Porsche's plans to double sales to 200,000 cars by 2018.
Since its launch back in 2002, the Cayenne has been instrumental in Porsche's growth as a brand: before it arrived, the company was selling fewer than 50,000 units each year – so if its ambitious development plan comes off, it will represent a huge success story in business terms.
There's an all-new Porsche 911 on the way – which we've already had a ride in - to boost sales further.
