McLaren Automotive has announced the launch of McLaren Special Operations, a division responsible for bespoke customer projects.

Celebrating its launch at Pebble Beach Concours d’Elegance this year, the newly created division presented an example of the new MP4-12C, with the aim of inspiring existing and future owners.

Bespoke treatments included satin matte Volcano Orange paintwork, a gloss black roof, diamond cut finish wheels and carbon fibre engine cover vents.

Paul Mackenzie, Programme Director at McLaren Automotive said, “We recognise some owners have specific tastes and we have the knowledge and capability to design, engineer and produce almost anything a customer may desire for their 12C.”

McLaren Automotive also presented a second special version of the MP4-12C on the ‘Concept Lawn’ at Pebble Beach. Painted by McLaren Racing (the Formula One-focused sister company), the 12C featured AkzoNobel Sikkens chrome coating, usually applied exclusively to Vodafone McLaren Mercedes F1 cars. But this paint scheme will not be available for commercial purposes.

What's In A Name?

I've read a fair bit about this car but still do not know what it's name means/stands for. Is it McLaren Project 4 - One To See?
