New sites to help cut servicing costs

Website allows car owners to find the best deals on servicing and rate mechanics

New sites to help cut servicing costs

By Mark Griffiths

With declining roads conditions, servicing and repairs costs are a growing issue for motorists. But a new wave of motoring websites are offering consumers the chance to save some hard-earned cash.

Launched in March this year, the latest UK site Whocanfixmycar.com has a simple process. Just post a job anonymously, browse through quotes and then rate the mechanic afterwards. Car owners can specify their usual service or MOT within the ad. It couldn’t be easier.

CEO of Whocanfixmycar.com Ian Griffiths said: “A leading insurance company survey in June found that more than 750,000 car owners in the UK are skipping their annual service to save money, highlighting the growing need for a money-saving website like this.”

So with the ability to trawl through various online quotes, the question really is ‘who can fix my car?’ Would you choose main dealer servicing over this search facility and a local mechanic? Tell us your thoughts in the comments below…
